About The Biblio-tech

Anne Behler is an Information Literacy Librarian for the Library Learning Services Department of the Penn State University Libraries. Her primary job foci are instruction and outreach to first-year students, literacy in higher education, and research consultation services and models in the academic library. As librarian for the leisure reading collection at University Park, Anne selects all titles for the collection and is responsible for coordinating any programming and displays that are part of the collection. She is also an active member of the Centre County Reads board and serves on several library and e-book related committees at the national level.

In 2008 – 2010, Anne co-led the Penn State Sony Reader pilot project, a collaboration between the University Libraries and the Department of English. That project led to the formation of the Lector Virtual Book Club, founded by Senior Lecturer Diana Gruendler and her students. Anne joined the Lector Virtual Book Club project officially in the Fall, 2011, semester as the Biblio-tech, Lector’s official “embedded librarian.” As the embedded librarian, Anne interacts regularly with the classes who participate in Lector, online and in person. She serves to both support the students’ research needs and to provide pertinent real-time information about helpful library resources, via her own blog (featured on the sidebar of Lector).
